Lok Virsa to hold Chand Raat for flood victims

The Ministry of Culture and Lok Virsa are hosting a Chand Raat festival to generate funds for flood affected children.

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Culture and Lok Virsa are hosting a Chand Raat festival to generate funds for flood affected children. According to the organisers, a number of local artists from Islamabad and Rawalpindi will be participating in the festival.

The national puppet theatre and dance troupe of the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) will also take part. Executive Director Lok Virsa Khalid Javaid said, “We are grateful to all the performers as well as the PNCA administration for responding positively to our call for this noble cause.”

Giving details about the contributions, Javaid said the Rotary Club has pledged to provide 1,000 gift packs, PODA NGO has contributed about Rs20,000, whileLok Virsa officers and their families have donated cash worth Rs70,000.”

He appealed to the residents of the twin cities to attend the festival and contribute generously towards this cause. “People can donate money or food/entertainment items for the children as a token of their participation,” he said.
