Danish to play Nasir in squash final

Mehboob pulls out after injury in semi-final.

KARACHI:

Pakistan’s two most promising youngsters – Danish Atlas Khan and Nasir Iqbal – will vie for the Pakistan International Circuit IV tournament’s crown at the Mushaf Squash Complex in Islamabad today.

Danish marched into the final beating Yasir Butt 3-1 in their semi-final with a scoreline of 11-7, 9-11, 11-7 and 11-9. Meanwhile, Iqbal was handed a place in the final after Farhan Meboob retired in the third set. Mehboob crashed into the glass with the match tied 1-1 and was forced to pull out.

“Mehboob was playing really well until he got injured,” national coach Jamshed Gul told The Express Tribune. “It was an exciting match as both players had won one set each. They were giving their best to get into the final. It’s a shame that a good match ended that way.”

Danish said that he was hoping for an exciting final against Iqbal.

“We have played against each other and know each other’s game, so I’m expecting a tough fight,” said Danish.
