Asian Champions Trophy: Pakistan beat Oman 8-3

The match’s top scorer Shakeel Abbasi netted three goals.

Pakistan started off its campaign in the 2012 Asian Men’s Hockey Champions Trophy on a high note after outclassing Oman 8-3 at the al Rayyan Hockey Stadium in Doha on Thursday. The match’s top scorer Shakeel Abbasi netted three goals, while Waqas Sharif scored two. Abdul Haseem Khan, Rizwan Khan Junior and Mohammad Imran, meanwhile, scored a goal each. Pakistan is scheduled to play their next match against China on December 21. Six countries – Pakistan, India, China, Japan, Oman and Malaysia – are taking part the in the eight-day tournament. A total of 18 matches will be held, with the final and runner-up matches scheduled for December 27. Many sports analysts consider Pakistan among the favourites to clinch this year’s trophy.
