KARACHI:
The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has recommended Sohail Abbas for the President’s Pride of Performance Award for 2013, according to a PHF media release.
Abbas, one of the most renowned names in modern hockey, is the world’s highest scorer with 348 international goals in a career that has spanned almost 18 years. The seasoned defender also has several other records to his name including 80 goals in a single calendar year and ended up a top scorer in eight major tournaments including the Athens Olympics. “He is a living legend of the sport,” said a PHF official. “The award is a small attempt to acknowledge his immense services for Pakistan.”
