Ghalib Market police killed Abbas on Gurumangat Road on December 7.
LAHORE:
Judicial Magistrate Imtiaz Ahmed Noor has summoned Mohsin Abbas, the brother of Zishan Abbas, who was allegedly killed in a staged encounter, for Jan 2.
Previously, the father of the deceased, Mazhar Abbas, had told the magistrate that his son was a criminal. He denied giving the statement under police pressure.
District and Session Judge Nazir Ahmed Ganjana had directed Judicial Magistrate Noor to conduct a judicial inquiry and submit a report within a month.
Ghalib Market police killed Abbas on Gurumangat Road on December 7. Police had claimed that they had killed Abbass in a shootout with him and two other men who were attempting a robbery. But CCTV footage later aired on television showed an unarmed man, trying to hide behind a tree, being shot by police. Later, a policeman placed a gun near the body.
