Public prosecution department: Workers call off strike on pay pledge
Employees say they will wear black armbands until demands are met.
LAHORE:
Employees of the District Public Prosecution Department called off their strike here on Tuesday after Prosecutor General Sadaqat Ali Khan told them he would put his job on the line to get them their pay raises.
The prosecutor general said that he had told the protesters that he would send two letters to the chief minister, asking him to accept one: an application to address the employees’ concerns, or his letter of resignation.
The employees called off their strike but decided to wear black armbands as long as their demands remained unmet, the prosecutor general said.
The district level employees of the Public Prosecution Department had decided to go on strike from Tuesday to demand wages at par with the salaries of court employees.
