Blind cricket: Abbasi expresses regret after World Cup loss

Pakistan’s blind team captain Zeeshan Abbasi apologised to the nation for his team’s failure to bring the inaugural Blind Twenty20 World Cup trophy home. The team, which lost to India by 29 runs in the final in Bangalore, returned home late Saturday night. Pakistan enjoyed excellent form in the tournament until the final. The team recorded nine consecutive victories but fell against India in an epic battle.
“It was hard luck,” said Abbasi on return. “We played well throughout the tournament and it wasn’t our day in the final. The nation supported and prayed for us. I am very sorry and would like apologise to the nation for our failure to win the trophy.”
