Research-based analysis: US to review Pakistan’s anti-poverty policy
USAID assistance will allow Pakistan to modernise its policy formulation by improving research-based policy analysis.
ISLAMABAD:
The United States launched a two-day annual conference to review a range of policy issues to reduce rural poverty in Pakistan on Thursday.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Deputy Director Rodger Garner, speaking at the inaugural session of the conference, said the US was proud to support the Planning Commission and other outstanding Pakistani researchers who were committed to reducing poverty in Pakistan.
The US is supporting Pakistani researchers and the Government of Pakistan to make evidence-based policy reforms that address rural poverty. Dr Nadeemul Haque, deputy chairman of the Planning Commission said, “The USAID assistance will allow Pakistan to modernise its policy formulation by improving research-based policy analysis. This will create a more favourable environment for investments and job growth.”
