Militant attack: Boys’ school blown up in Khyber Agency
“The school was closed due to the on-going military operation in the tehsil,” says official.
Unidentified militants destroyed a government-run girls’ primary school in the Akka Khel area of Bara tehsil in the early hours of Tuesday. Political administration official Javaid Afridi said that at around 4am the primary school in Sardar Kallay was destroyed when explosives planted in the school building by unidentified militants went off. “The school was closed due to the on-going military operation in the tehsil,” the official said, adding that the explosives were planted in one of the classrooms of the building which completely demolished the structure. According to the official’s estimate more than 90 schools in the agency have been destroyed by militants. On June 28, militants had also destroyed a primary school for boys in the area.
