Civil servants case: PM Ashraf orders implementation of SC order
Orders establishment secretary to submit comprehensive compliance report within 15 days.
ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf Tuesday directed the secretary establishment to implement the Supreme Court’s judgement on the issue of civil servants in letter and in spirit, and ordered for a comprehensive compliance report to be submitted within 15 days.
The recent judgement of the Supreme Court authored by Justice Jawad S Khawaja comprised posting of civil servants as Officers on Special Duty (OSD) and their appointments, removals and promotions.
The Supreme Court had ruled that civil servants are not bound to comply with illegal directives or come under the influence of their seniors or political executives while discharging their duties.
The prime minister issued these directives following a presentation by Secretary Establishment Taimur Azmat Usman on the same.
Ashraf also ordered that Maryam Khan be posted as ADC (G) immediately and called for an inquiry into the premature transfer of Rabia Aurangzeb.
He said that the government was committed to ensuring security and tenure of government servant postings so they could work without fear.
