India captain disappointed after loss to England,Trail series 1-2.
England edged closer to a first series win in India since 1985 yesterday as they beat India by seven wickets on the last day of the third Test.
The day started with India down on their last wicket with the home side only managing to add eight runs to their previous score of 239 before Pragyan Ojha fell to James Anderson. The tourists wrapped up the match in just 40 minutes, chasing an easy 41-run target for the loss of three wickets.
Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni admitted that the home side needs to get its act together to beat England in the next match.
“We need to give our bowlers a few more runs,” said Dhoni. “We haven’t scored consistently over 300. In the second innings, it was like a landslide we couldn’t stop. We have everything to play for in Nagpur. Of course the better team won. They played well but we need to retaliate.”
Meanwhile, England captain Alastair Cook said he was pleased with the overall performance of his team and hoped to carry the momentum through to the upcoming Nagpur Test.
“Everyone performed,” said Cook. “We have to recover well, this win has taken a lot out of us. We will try to win the series in Nagpur, we can’t be complacent.”
