SUKKUR:
Ghotki police have arrested one of the seven suspects booked over murdering a woman on the pretext of “karo-kari” in Daharki.
Rano Bhutto suspected his wife Shahnaz Bhutto had an affair with Sikandar Bhutto. On Friday, after a bitter argument, Rano pulled out a pistol and fired at his wife, killing her on the spot. Daharki police shifted the body to taluka hospital.
The slain woman’s brother, Abdul Fatah Bhutto, lodged an FIR against seven suspects, including her husband, Ali Gul Bhutto, Sharif Bhutto, Zulfiqar Bhutto, Latif Bhutto, Abdul Hameed Bhutto and another unidentified suspect. Police have arrested Rano and also seized the murder weapon from him.
Raids are under way to arrest the remaining accused. In his statement to police, Abdul Fatah claimed Rano used to force his wife to transfer her property in his name but she always refused. Daharki SHO Shabbir Golato said the accused has been granted three-day police remand by a court.
