Foundation stone for Sadiqabad’s new judicial complex laid at Aiwan-i-Adl

Lahore High Court judge inspects lower courts.

A ceremony to lay the foundation stone of a new judicial complex was held at the Aiwan-i-Adl here on Saturday.


Courts for two additional district and sessions judges and seven civil judges are being constructed at the judicial complex. New record rooms and residences for judges are also part of the complex.

Lahore High Court (Bahawalpur bench) Justice Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Justice Sardar Mohammad Shamim Khan, Justice Altaf Ibraheem Qureshi, Justice Shujat Ali Khan and Rahim Yar Khan District and Sessions Judge Mian Mohammad Ilyas attended the ceremony. Later, they delivered addresses at a function held at the Sadiqabad Club.

On Friday, Sadiqabad Additional District and Sessions Judge Haji Mohammad Aslam, Civil Judge Mohammad Akram Nawab Sindhu, Civil Judge Rehan Sibtain, Civil Judge Sardar Sahib Khan Baloch, Civil Judge Mohammad Riaz Khan, Civil Judge Ishaque Javed, Mohammad Imran Farooque, Sadiqabad Bar Association President Hafeezur Rahman Hafeez and General Secretary Jam Fakhuruddin Laro inspected the under-construction complex. They also reviewed the condition of roads leading to the judicial complex and the Sadiqabad Club.

On Friday, Justice Chaudhry reached Rahim Yar Khan for a two-day inspection tour.




On his way to RY Khan, he stopped over at Khanpur and inspected local courts. He also saw several trials in process. He reached RY Khan at 11am.

District and Sessions Judge Mian Mohammad Ilyas, Additional District and Sessions Judges Chaudhry Javed Iqbal Saif, Sardar Akram Khan Niazi, Mohammad Arif Khan, Senior Civil Judge Chaudhry Shabbir Hussain, Civil Judge Mehnaz Hayat and District Bar Association President Malik Sajid Feroz welcomed Justice Chaudhry. A contingent of police presented him with the guard of honour.

Justice Chaudhry visited various courts and reviewed judges’ efficiency. He also visited a police lock-up and noted the problems being faced by prisoners. He issued orders to redress the grievances of the prisoners and expressed satisfaction over the working of the judiciary.

The district and sessions judge gave him a briefing on under-trial cases.

Later, talking to lawyers at the bar room, he said when he was a lawyer, he always found fault with the judiciary.

He said now that he was a judge, he clearly saw lawyers’ shortcomings. He said lawyers should avoid going on strikes. He said justice could be provided to people only by implementing the judicial policy.

He said a joint effort was needed to eliminate social evils and ensure that justice was available to all in the society. He also answered various questions put up by lawyers.

Earlier, the DBA president presented him with a bouquet and an Ajrak.
