KARACHI:
Two political activists among six people were gunned down across Karachi on Friday while police found the bodies of three men.
An activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was gunned down in a targeted attack in Millat Colony. Nasir Fareed, 35, was shot dead by two armed men, who came on a motorcycle wearing helmets and escaped after shooting him multiple times, Pakistan Bazaar police said. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where scores of party workers and victim's relatives arrived to protest against Fareed's murder.
Another MQM worker, Safeer Rafiq, was gunned down near his home in Ibrahim Villas, Malir. He was shot multiple times and died on the spot, said Al-Falah police. His body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
In Muzzafarabad Colony, 28-year-old Iqbal Zada was shot dead by two armed motorcyclists as he came out of a mosque after the Friday prayers, said Quaidabad police. Zada had come to Karachi from Swat only two weeks ago to visit his relatives. He was associated with the community police in his hometown and may have been killed over a personal enmity, police added.
A rickshaw driver, 35-year-old Sarmad Khan, was gunned down in Mianwali Colony. The victim, who lived in Orangi Town's Islamia Colony, was in his rickshaw when unidentified armed attackers shot him multiple times, said Pirabad SHO Ashfaq Baloch. Police found four empty 9mm shells at the site.
Sarmad's brother, Naseeb Zada, has registered a murder case against unidentified suspects.
A property dealer was shot dead in Janjaal Goth within the Sohrab Goth police precincts. Two armed motorcycle riders gunned down Jahanzaib Kareem Khan, 53, when he was going home in Quaidabad after visiting a site, said DSP Qamar Ahmed. The victim was from the Bajaur Agency, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
