Over 100 teachers from various branches of Roots attended a workshop on Oxford Reading Tree (ORT) in Sector G-8 on Thursday, said a press release.

The training was led by Bushra Shoaib and Tayyaba Aquil, the leading academic coordinators of ORT.

The workshop focused on thematic approaches in teaching English to young children.

The approach was explained by decorating the training room as a witch’s house, with the trainer masquerading as a witch.

The workshop was very hands on replete with interactive activities.

The content in the workshop included phonic method, look and say and sight reading method.

It also focused on developing word recognition, comprehension, fluency, reading strategies and words awareness.

The workshop was organised by the Roots Academy for Professional and Intellectual Development.
