Accident: Child drowns in plot pond
Boy’s family and residents of area protested against district government and WASA.
FAISALABAD:
A three-year-old boy drowned in a flooded plot in a residential colony along Sargodha Road. Police said Umair, son of Akbar, a power loom worker, was playing with other children near his home in Mohallah Green Town when he slipped into a pond that had formed in an empty plot. Some residents of the area pulled the boy out, but he was dead. Later, the boy’s family and residents of the area protested against the district government and the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) for allowing water to accumulate in plots and sewers. They dispersed when Wasa and district government officials arrived at the scene and assured them that all accumulated water would be removed from the plots.
