Petitioner Zubair Ali Khaskheli appealed to the court to direct federal and provincial governments to include human rights related articles of the Constitution in school syllabi to instill harmony and peace in society, particularly for the benefit of future generations.
He submitted that many first world countries such as America, France, Ireland, Spain, Finland, Norway, keeping in view the importance of educating its citizens about their fundamental rights, have introduced citizenship subjects at the primary level.
After conducting the hearing of the petition, the SHC's division bench headed by Chief Justice Mushir Alam directed provincial law officers to file comments.
Khaskheli cited the Federation of Pakistan through Ministry of Education, Province of Sindh through Chief Secretary, and Secretary of Education and Literary Department as respondents.

we are all taught to not lie, cheat or steal in one subject or another or just at home. but somehow, in pakistan, almost everyone cheats, lies, bribes, etc. teaching something and not having a societal structure that enforces it is useless. people cheat others because they are able to get away with it. they would never cheat someone if they would be put in jail for it. we dont need schools to teach, we need schools to teach academics and society and homes to teach manners.
mj... stop comparing gods laws to laws as interpreted by saudi arabia and zia-ul-haq and you'll have your answer too.
@Farhan Khan: @ADEEL: Does the religion allow women to travel alone, grant them the right to divorce, and equal inheritance and worth of testimony, or restrict a man to single spouse? Does it allow for slavery and concubinage? Does it allow freedom of religion, or for that matter from religion? Is it compatible with freedom of speech, which comes with the freedom to disrespect or be skeptical of the divine institutions? Does it accommodate complex human gender and sexual norms?
Answer these questions honestly and you'll have your answer.
@ADEEL: Actually Islam is the problem. People should be given a POV of the 21st century rather than sticking to the pagan laws of the 500 ADs.
I don't know much but they say that in Finland; Teachers are payed as doctors, student's enjoy hour long recess and there are no mandatory tests<< This explains how they are not producing paralyzed robots but creative thinkers. #facebooking
"Huqooq Ul Ibaad" in Islamic Studies are the HUMAN RIGHTS. Yes, These should be emphasized more.
Islam, if taught properly, has all the values for human rights... If just our molvies become sincere with the deen of Allah instead of with their respective sect, this dismal condition of human rights in pakistan can improve
good initiative!!
