LAHORE:

District and Sessions Judge Nazir Ahmed Ganjana, on Tuesday, again issued a notice to former Pakistan Peoples Party MPA Amna Butter for December 18 on a petition filed by the Regional Election Commissioner Lahore seeking legal action against her for possessing dual citizenship.

The judge was hearing three petitions filed by the Regional Election Commissioner Lahore, the first against Amna Butter, the second against former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MPA Chaudhry Waseem Qadir for also possessing dual citizenship and the third against former Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid MPA Syeda Majida Zaidi for having a fake BA degree.

The judge dismissed the petition against Qadir after the petitioner’s counsel submitted that the Supreme Court had restored Qadir’s status. The counsel also submitted that Zaidi had filed a writ petition in the Lahore High Court regarding the matter and prayed that the proceedings be stayed till the final decision. The judge stayed proceedings against Zaidi till December 18 too.

The judge had, previously,  issued a notice to Butter but the notices could not be served as she was abroad.
