Upgrading technology: Integrated surveillance to be launched

Governor directed officials to introduce communal policing in Karachi’s industrial zones.

KARACHI:
The Sindh governor, Dr Ishratul Ebad, has asked Karachi’s administration to install an integrated system of surveillance in Karachi. During a meeting at the Governor House, he suggested that surveillance systems used by Karachi’s police, the command and control system of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and the surveillance systems of Karachi Port Trust, Port Qasim and the Steel Mills, should be linked. He has also directed officials to introduce communal policing in Karachi’s industrial zones. According to the governor, installing modern systems of surveillance will help reduce crimes in the city, especially the violation of traffic laws.
