Pakistan’s Muhammad Asif reached the semi-finals in the IBSF World Snooker Championship after beating Syria 6-2, Express News reported on Saturday.
Earlier, Asif had won against Australia’s Vinnie Calabrese 5-0 in their last 32-match played yesterday in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Asif showed great confidence as he beat Calabrese 63-40, 115-14, 69-65, 67-55 and 67-15.
Team manager Munawwar Sheikh was pleased with the performances of cueists Asif and Asjad Iqbal, who bowed out of the event at the start of the knock-out stage after a 4-3 loss.
“Asif has been simply outstanding throughout the tournament, while Iqbal was unlucky to get knocked out,” Sheikh told The Express Tribune earlier.
