Road Work: Work begins on Pirwadhai Flyover, Churr Chowk widening

The Rs1.4 billion Pirwadhai Flyover will be completed by March 15.

RAWALPINDI:

Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif on Friday laid the foundation for the construction of the Pirwadhai Flyover at Peshawar Road, which is expected to be completed in five months.

The chief minister also inaugurated a road-widening project for a one kilometre patch on Churr Chowk to ease traffic flow. The project also includes one-kilometre long service lanes on either side.

The Pirwadhai flyover would have three levels, including a flyover, an underpass, and a road at Pirwadhai Mor on Peshawar Road.

It will be the third flyover built in Rawalpindi in the last year, after the Chandni Chowk and Sixth Road flyovers on Benazir Bhutto Road.

The Rs1.4 billion Pirwadhai Flyover will be completed by March 15, while the Punjab government will spend Rs500 million on Churr Chowk.

CM Shahbaz Sharif said the PML-N government if re-elected in next general elections would introduce a rapid transport system in Rawalpindi.
