For development: Access to sustainable energy stressed

Mhlanga says that energy is like a golden thread that connects economic growth and allows the world to thrive

ISLAMABAD: Speakers at a workshop stressed to ensure universal access to sustainable energy as a prerequisite to achieving sustainable development and driving new models of economic growth. “Energy stands at the forefront of the complex and interconnected challenges that define our increasingly globalised world,” said Muhammad Basharat Raja, adviser to the prime minister on industries while speaking at a workshop on ‘Sustainable Energy Initiatives for Industries in Pakistan’. United Nations Industrial Development Organization Project Director Alois Posekufa Mhlanga congratulated all the stakeholders of coming together at a single platform and realise the important agenda. He said that the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon declared 2012 as the ‘International Year of Sustainable Energy for all’. Mhlanga said that energy is like a golden thread that connects economic growth and allows the world to thrive.
