Citizens should be allowed to carry weapons for self-defence: Afaq Ahmed

Mohajir Qaumi Movement chairperson expresses sorrow over targeted killings of his party workers.

KARACHI:
Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-H) chairperson Afaq Ahmed maintained that the residents of Karachi should be allowed to use weapons for self-defence as the city is running on the “law of the jungle”, reported Express News on Friday.

The party chairman, addressing a press conference, expressed sorrow over the targeted killings of his party leaders, workers and other Karachi residents, and called for strict action to be taken against the target killers.

Ahmed said that it was the responsibility of the law enforcement agencies to provide security but the agencies have been paralysed instead.

On Thursday, three Mohajir Qaumi Movement activists were gunned down by three men allegedly disguised as policemen in Landhi’s Mansehra colony. The dead included party’s vice-chairperson Zafar Khan Qaimkhani.

According to the party, over 100 MQM-H activists have been killed since Afaq was released from jail in December last year.
