Reviewing development: 117 projects completed in Bahawalpur

Commissioner asks officials to ensure timely completion of projects.

As many as 117 development projects have been completed in Bahawalpur division at a cost of Rs317.4 million, Bahawalpur Commissioner Muhammad Khan Khichi said on Wednesday.


Khichi was addressing a meeting of the Divisional Monitoring Committee to review the developmental projects being implemented in the division.

Khichi said 357 development projects had been approved for Bahawalpur division in the Annual Developmental Programme at a cost Rs1.17 billion.

He also took some officials to task because some projects were falling behind deadlines. He said that the government would check the use of substandard construction material.


He directed the executive district officer (Finance) to monitor the projects and present fortnightly reports to his office.

The meeting was told that Rs150million had been released for the first phase of a road from Bahawalpur to Hasilpur.



The meeting was told construction work on the roads had started with 82 per cent of the work on the road form Bahawalnagar to Arifwala complete.

It was told that Rs40 million had been sanctioned for a sewerage scheme for Ahmadpur.

It was told that Rs2.5 billion would be spent on the Ahmadpur East and Sadiqabad water supply scheme, a sewerage scheme for Chistian, a road from Ahmadpur East to Dera Nawab Sahab Railway Station, six roads in Ahmadpur East, road construction and repair in Chistian city, broadening roads around Rahim Yar Khan’s Town Hall, and the restoration of roads from Dari Sanghi bridge to Belgium Chowk.
