Coalition building: ‘Alliance will lead to welfare state’

“Our alliance with the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) is aimed at transforming Pakistan into an Islamic welfare state,” Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader and Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said on Wednesday. Speaking to a delegation of PML-Q members at his residence, Elahi said, “We will include parties from all four provinces in our grand alliance.” He said candidate selection for constituencies at National and Provincial Assemblies will be done through mutual consultations and after due deliberations. He said the public knew of services done for the people of the Punjab during his tenure as Chief Minister. He said those who had promised to bring down prices had been exposed. MPA Sardar Dildar Cheema, former MPA Khalid Mahmood, Ghulam Nabi, Niaz Ahmad, Abid Sindhu, Nadeem Arshad, Tariq, Bakhtiar Saud, Ghulam Ahmad, Afzal Bhutta, Khalid Nambardar, Muhammad Din, Faiz Rasool, Mudassar Mushtaq and Rana Noor Mudassar were in attendance.
