Hot water treatment: ‘Pakistan can export quality mangoes’

Punjab Agriculture Research Board to extend research component of Rs9.1m-project by a year to reconfirm results.

MULTAN:
The research on hot water treatment of mango against some quarantine diseases and white fly has proved successful, prompting Punjab Agriculture Research Board officials to extend the research component of a Rs9.1 million-project by a year to reconfirm results. The research focused on four mango varieties, including Chaunsa Samar Bahisht, White Chaunsa, Fajri and Sindhri, regarding control of diseases. The project managers will make the hot water treatment service available on commercial basis to growers or mango exporters by the fourth year of the project for export of disease-free fruit to enable them to earn foreign exchange. The project is passing through its third year at the Mango Research Institute.
