Elections 2013: PML-Q, Sunni Ittehad Council form alliance
Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain says PML-Q will invite more religious parties to join this caravan.
LAHORE:
Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and Sunni Ittehad Council have entered into an alliance, a press release of PML-Q said on Wednesday.
PML-Q said its alliance with Pakistan Peoples Party will remain intact and efforts will be made for a grand alliance with parties having national thinking in all the four provinces.
PML-Q president Senator Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, central leader Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, Sunni Ittehad Council Chairman and Jamiatul Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan head Sahibzada Fazal Karim and Secretary General Sunni Ittehad Council Haji Hanif Tayyab made the announcement at a joint press conference after the final round of talks in Faisalabad on Tuesday.
The ceremony took place at the residence of Sahibzada Fazal Karim.
Shujaat Hussain said that no individual, party, court or general can resolve the problems facing Pakistan single-handedly and all national forces will have to work together sincerely for the country. “PML-Q will move ahead with Sunni Ittehad Council and we will invite more religious and political parties to join this caravan,” he said.
Parvez Elahi said that this alliance is the result of year-long talks. “We dedicate this alliance to the security of Pakistan and prosperity of the people.”
He said this alliance would take practical steps for progress, development and prosperity of Pakistan.
“We will give a very big surprise in the future, this is only a beginning,” he said.
Sahibzada Fazal Karim said that this alliance has come into existence for the supremacy of Holy Quran and Sunnah for the enforcement of Nizam-e-Mustafa in the motherland. “Insha-Allah we will continue to struggle together with parties which are nearer to our cause,” he said
