‘Car the weak point, not the driver'

Ferrari team principal shares reasons for second-place finish.

Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali insisted that the only reason they lost the championship this season was because they had a weak car, according to ESPN.

Fernando Alonso fell three points short of Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel in the championship race despite finishing second in Brazil and Domenicali admitted that their car was not quick enough.

“We simply did not have the fastest car since the beginning of the season and in the second half, we were not able to improve it,” said Domenicali.

“So now, we’re trying to correct the points that were not the best in terms of our car.”

McLaren rue lost points

Meanwhile, McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh says they lost too many points and need to capitalise on point-scoring opportunities better next season.

“It wasn’t how we wanted to end,” said Whitmarsh. “I think we’ve had a quick car for a lot of this year but we’ve got to make sure we’re really taking the points when they’re there to be taken.”
