Nothing wrong with Tyno cough syrup, victims overdosed: Report
Report claims those who died had consumed 2-3 bottles of Tyno and had mixed some intoxicant to get high.
Initial investigation reports have revealed that the cough syrup, Tyno, which has reportedly been blamed for the deaths of as many as 16 people in Punjab, is fine and the deaths were instead caused by overdose, reported Express News.
The medical report claimed that no one can die even after consuming the entire bottle, but those who died probably consumed 2-3 bottles and had mixed some sort of an intoxicant in the syrup.
People have also been using cough syrups of six big and seven local companies as drugs, the report added.
The deaths occurred in the Shahdra Town neighbourhood between Friday and Sunday with the victims mostly drug addicts who took the syrup, named Tyno, to get high.
The Punjab Health Department has imposed a ban on Tyno, which is manufactured by Reko Pharmacal Lahore. According to a Health Department spokesperson, all drug inspectors have been issued immediate instructions to drop the existing stock of Tyno and ensure a blanket ban on its sale.
