CNG unavailability: Protestors block MA Jinnah Road in Karachi
Shahrah-e-Faisal, major roads face long queues and traffic jams.
KARACHI:
Traffic remained suspended on MA Jinnah Road after rickshaw drivers blocked the road in protest of CNG unavailability, Express News reported on Tuesday.
Public transporters unblocked the road after talks with the police.
Meanwhile, Shahrah-e-Faisal and other major arteries of Karachi, including Rashid Minhas Road and Shahrah-e-Pakistan, were jammed with traffic as cars lined up for CNG at the few stations that were open despite CNG station owners’ decision to close in protest of forced price reductions.
Public transport is also scarce on roads, with most people standing in long queues trying to get CNG, which has created massive traffic jams.
Earlier, the All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) had threatened to close down stations if prices were not reviewed.
APCNGA Chairman Abdul Ghyas Paracha had said that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) was informed through talks regarding the pricing of the gas as well as the loans taken from banks.
He had demanded that Ogra should provide them with profit after working out the production price.
