Chasing Criminals: Two men killed in ‘encounter’

One of the men started firing at the police. The police fired back killing both of them on the spot.

Saddar police killed two men they said were proclaimed offenders in an encounter on Sunday night. The exchange of fire between the police and the allegedly proclaimed offenders took place on Jhang Road.



Police said SHO Rana Farrukh Waheed was on duty at a police picket near Government College University when he saw two suspicious men. He said he signaled them to stop, but instead they raced off. He said a police team chased them. He said one of the men started firing at the police. The police fired back killing both of them on the spot. Police said they were later identified as Abbas and Aslam Bhatti. Inspector Aamir Waheed, PRO to the city police officer, said the men were wanted in 27 cases of murder, robbery and abduction.
