CNG stations remain shut in parts of Pakistan

CNG association had threatened to close down stations if prices were not reviewed.

Refusing to sell compressed natural gas (CNG) at prices fixed by the apex court, many CNG stations remained shut on Monday in parts of the country, Express News reported on Monday.

All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) had threatened to close down stations if prices were not reviewed.

APCNGA Chairman Abdul Ghyas Paracha had said that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) was informed through talks regarding the pricing of the gas as well as the loans taken from banks.

He had demanded that Ogra should provide them with profit after working out the production price.

The association had also proposed few options to keep the CNG business viable.

In its orders issued on October 25, the Supreme Court directed CNG prices to be cut after declaring the mechanism of basing CNG prices on the price of petrol as illegal.
