Two children killed as roof caves in in Peshsawar

Roof of a house collapsed, but the debris fell in adjoining house, killing two children, injured their mother.

PESHAWAR:
A brother and a sister were killed and their mother was seriously injured when the roof of an under construction building collapsed on them in Peshawar.

Locals told The Express Tribune that the house of Abdul Sattar was under construction in Mohallah Jogan Shah, Shah Qabool inside the walled city. On Saturday, the roof of the house collapsed onto a neighbouring house.

Local people and rescue volunteers pulled the woman and her two children from under the debris of the roof. The woman was rescued in an injured condition and shifted to the Lady Reading Hosptial (LRH).
Her two children, brother and sister Ali and Sadaf were also taken out but they died before reaching the hospital.
Local people said that the house of Abdul Sattar was under construction and its debries fell in the adjecent house owned by Ijaz Khan.

Rescue workers faced many difficulties in their rescue operation given the narrow width of streets and sealing of the city due to Muharram.
