Chemical explosion: Karachi flat blast injures one
Witnesses claim blast caused while suspects were preparing explosive material.
KARACHI:
At least one person was injured in a blast which occurred inside a residential apartment in the Defence area on Saturday evening. The explosion occurred on the top floor of a four-storey-building situated in Khayaban-e-Bukhari area. Heavy contingents of law enforcers reached the blast site, which had been vacated by residents. Witnesses claimed that the explosion occurred while explosive material was being prepared by suspects who lived in the flat. Senior Superintendent (SSP) Raja Omar Khattab confirmed that the explosion occurred due to some type of chemical processing. Meanwhile, Saddar division SSP Javed Maher said that details about suspected tenants of the flat was being gathered.
