Workshop: Media training ends

The training aimed to enhance participants’ proficiency in radio production.

ISLAMABAD:
A five-day workshop brought together 30 producers and presenters from 25 districts of the country to engage with each other and devise innovative ways in which electronic media can become a peace-building mechanism. The training aimed to enhance participants’ proficiency in radio production, enabling them to produce radio talk shows that are solution-oriented, aimed at reducing stereotypes, and propose constructive solutions to complex issues while promoting dialogue and peace-building. Masud Alam, the trainer, urged participants to use their advantage as public service broadcasters to lead the industry through the practice of ethical journalism. This means “choosing subjects that are relevant to the audience, understanding issues related with the subject and how they affect the common man ... and asking probing questions that aim to inform and educate the audience”.
