Friends from the Nile: Pakistan, Egypt promise to boost trade
The president Zardari propose the establishment of a Pak- Egypt joint investment company.
ISLAMABAD:
President Asif Ali Zardari and Egypt’s Vice President Mahmud Mekki on Thursday vowed to bolster Pakistan and Egypt’s bilateral trade and economic cooperation and agreed on the frequent exchange of business delegations to help explore new avenues for investment in various fields. President Zardari noted during the meeting that bilateral trade is on an upward trajectory over the past three years, and Egypt has become Pakistan’s third largest trading partner in the African continent. He said there is still huge scope for cooperation in various fields. The president also proposed the establishment of a Pak- Egypt joint investment company and expressed hopes that the mechanism will help promote foreign direct investment in both countries. He also invited Egyptian investments in various sectors, including infrastructure, energy, mining, textiles, real estate and tourism.
