Man accused of attacking police station acquitted
Saeed Khan's counsel says he was falsely implicated and there was no evidence against him.
KARACHI:
A man accused of attacking a police station was acquitted on Thursday by a district and sessions court.
The police had registered a case against Saeed Khan and over 30 other people, including Uzair Jan and Zafar Baloch, on charges of allegedly attacking Kalri police station, smashing vehicles and firing at policemen in April this year.
An FIR No. 84/12 was registered at the Kalri police station under several sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including Section 147, punishment for rioting, and 324, attempted murder.
Khan’s counsel said that he was falsely implicated in the case and there was no evidence against him, adding that the police had failed to produce an independent witness. The first additional district and session judge, South, Shahid Hussain Chandio, acquitted Saeed because of a lack of evidence and ordered that he be released if he was not wanted in any other case.
