Ghost schools: 18 teachers, education officials booked

The accused teachers, most of whom are non-locals, have not visited the schools in more than three years.

KOHISTAN:

As many as 18 schoolteachers and other education officials have been booked for drawing salaries from 12 ghost schools in different parts of Kohistan District, official sources said on Thursday.

Anti-Corruption Department Circle Officer Inspector Fazal Dad Khan said that First Information Reports have been registered against 18 primary level schoolteachers, some former executive district officers, deputy district officers and assistant district education officers who served in far-off areas of Pattan, Sew and Kandia.

He said the accused teachers, most of whom are non-locals, have not visited the schools in more than three years and yet have been drawing salaries in connivance with the accounts’ staff and other officials, who would get 50 per cent of the teachers’ salaries for their ‘services’.
