According to initial details, the terrorists were hiding in a shop in the market and were caught after police traced a suspicious call from Miranshah.
The interrogation of the arrested suspects revealed they intended to join a Muharram 8 procession, coming from Islampura to Anarkali, and detonate the explosives.
Each suicide jacket seized from them carried eight to ten kilogramme of explosive material.
The suspects are reported to be aged 20 to 22.
Police have arrested the owner of the shop where the suspects were hiding and of those around it.
Car carrying arms
A car carrying arms and ammunition was intercepted near a Muharram procession in Gujranwala on Thursday.
Security officials are on high alert across the country since the beginning of the holy month. However, several bomb blasts very close to imambargahs have posed a challenge to the security forces.
The country witnessed three bomb blasts near imambargahs on November 21, which killed 25 people.
Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attacks.

These two will be walking free in a few days when the courts free them.
Pakistani CIA? MashAllah good news for once.
God bless the brave Pakistani security forces - we all need to acknowledge the great work they have been doing!
Well Done. Law Enforcement must be commended fully. We need to support them and keep their morale up.
we should make these terrorists wear these suicide vests and take a walk on the dark side
@Triliogy: I think you should show greater respect to the Pakistani law enforcement people who are the ones who caught these anti state criminals. Only cowards working for foreign countries would attack innocent unarmed civilians like these guys were doing. I am glad that Punjab security people and law enforcement will make sure that the Punjab will not become unstable like Karachi.
@Zain:
Respect all companions and Ahl-e-Bait.
Well done, best of luck to all security agencies of Pakistan
@Jibran There is no special anti-terrorism law, or any any special ammendment made by the government which would help the system of law to ensure that these people are punished (like they were made in the US after 9/11, which allow a person to be punished/detained even on basis of minimal evidence.) It is childish to suppose that the judiciary has a choice to punish or release the suspected terrorists, they are just following the system of law.
Fix the root cause please.
Doesn't matter if its Pakistani or American CIA as long as job is well done. Both agencies are doing their job with understanding and collaborations and nothing is wrong in it to clean up the mess. Well done and please keep it up.
for a second i was like ...wtf...... how can CIA make arrest on pakistani soil???? misleading headline....AGAIN
Comparatively a better performance !
Curfew for 3 days to prevent any terrorist attacks.
Well Done !!! Everyone needs to be alert all the time about suspicious people and activities. Let the terrorists know that now they are up against every Pakistani....ENOUGH is ENOUGH !!
Wow these terrorists have been organising an all out assault on every major city of pakistan. And still the government are asleep!
would have said thanks even if it was America's CIA
@ Triology This is not US' CIA. Read carefully.
@Triliogy: CIA is a Pakistani agency
@Pakistan Politics: same here! :P
The police are on a roll! Salute to police force!
Thank you for a job well done.
And their characterless brothers-in-faith sitting in highest judiciary would honorable release them, to unleash terror on people.
Thanks CYA. Our law enforcement agencies aren't interested.
