Over 100 students from different schools and colleges showcased their research projects at the Islamabad Science Fair that concluded here on Wednesday.
The three-day fair, organised by Intel Corporation, was held at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) with a total of 50 projects on display. Seven students were selected for the National Science Fair (NSF), scheduled to take place in January next year.
Anisa Malik of Islamabad Model College for Girls F-6/2, who presented a project on devising intravenous medication for sporotrichosis, said she was excited to attend the national fair.
Apart from Malik, three students from Pak Turk International School and Colleges were selected to take part in the NSF in the category of computer science, while another group of three from Aga Khan Higher Secondary School Gilgit was selected in chemistry. Arsalan Aamir of Aga Khan school said he hoped to make it to the International Science and Engineering Fair to be held in the US from May 12-17 next year.
AIOU Vice Chancellor Professor Nazir Ahmed Sangi appreciated the students’ work and urged them to focus more on research work.
Dr Shahnaz Riaz, the director general of Federal Directorate of Education, said the presence of a large number of students at the fair is a good sign for the country. She appreciated Intel for promoting the work of students.
