Electoral fraud: ‘PPP approves of army deployment’

I would advise the government to launch a target operation without delay: Manzoor Wasan.

KARACHI:

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has no objection to the army being deployed in sensitive areas of Karachi during the upcoming elections, said the minister for jails, Manzoor Wasan, after meeting the chief election commissioner, Fakhruddin G Ebrahim, on Wednesday.

Wasan claimed that none of the political parties have reservations about an operation being conducted against criminals in Karachi. “All coalition partners in the provincial government, including the MQM, the PPP and the ANP, want action to be taken against criminals,” he said. “I would advise the government to launch a target operation without delay.”

He claimed that there was considerable discrepancy in electoral rolls and that many votes from his constituency had been shifted to other places. He said that he had informed the chief election commissioner about PPP’s reservations over the voters’ lists. He also requested the commissioner to address the issue of fake national identity cards.
