Police rescues alleged robbers from being battered to death

Police officials saved two youths who were beaten up by locals who declared them to be robbers.

The two men have now been shifted to the THQ, where one is in critical condition. According to Gujranwala police officials, they received a tip off that two robbers had entered a house in Khokhar area and were being brutally tortured by the family.


When the police reached the location Ghulam Rasool, Zafar, Umair, Aziz and Amad were clubbing the two men who lay unconscious on the floor. The police rushed the youths to hospital. “The boys were in terrible condition they were both unconscious and four people were clubbing them with cricket bats,” said station house officer Tariq Akmal. One of the alleged robbers, Sakhawat said that he had gone to his friend Shoaib’s place to celebrate his success in their FA exams. “I took methai and we were celebrating with his family,” he said, adding that they were sitting along with his friend’s grandfather when five accused attacked them and called 15 claiming that they were robbers who had broken into their house.

The police shifted Shoaib to Lahore Mayo Hospital in critical condition and Sakhawat was shifted to Civil Hospital. The police arrested Amad, Ghulam Rasool, Zafar, Umair and Aziz for torturing the two boys. An investigation is underway.
