Olympics: Poland hopeful of 2022 Games bid
Poland aims to submit a formal bid next year to host the 2022 Games in the southern city of Krakow.
WARSAW:
Poland hopes its highly-rated showing as co-hosts of the 2012 European football championships will boost chances of holding the 2022 Winter Olympics. “We’ve got a big advantage thanks to Euro 2012, not only in the eyes of people abroad but also at home,” said Jagna Marczulajtis-Walczak. “I think our self-confidence now is much stronger regarding holding such major sporting events in Poland. It would be much harder for us to achieve such spectacular success as the Euro. But the Winter Olympics are totally different, so I’m really hopeful.” Poland aims to submit a formal bid next year to host the 2022 Games in the southern city of Krakow.
