SUKKUR:
Two employees of the district and sessions court, Jacobabad, were arrested on Monday due to their alleged involvement in issuing fake release orders for three prisoners from Sukkur.
A clerk, Abdul Qayoom, and a peon, Naseer Dasti, were arrested by the Rohri police on suspicion of being involved in issuing fake release orders for prisoners Leemo Rind and Noor Mohammad Khoso. Later, the authorities admitted that another prisoner, Akram Keehar, was also released during this period. All three prisoners were facing murder charges and were under trial. A senior clerk, Irfan Ali Pirzada, was also suspended by the jail authorities. The police registered two separate FIRs, one against the employees and the other against the prisoners.
After the rainfall in September, over 150 prisoners were shifted from Jacobabad District Jail to Central Jail-I, Sukkur. During this period, the jail authorities confirmed that on September 26, they received a release order for Rind from the second additional sessions judge, Aftab Ahmed Shaikh. He was subsequently released on September 28.
Similarly, they received the release orders for Keehar, who was released on October 4, and for Khoso, released on October 24. Khoso’s orders bore the signature of the first additional sessions judge, Ramesh Kumar, and was hand delivered to the court by Dasti.
According to jail authorities, an inquiry has been launched into the release of the three prisoners on fake orders and the jail authorities have also been ordered to conduct an inquiry at their end.
