PFW 3 makes it big in London
The two-day event exhibited the collections of 38 designers.
Pakistan Fashion Week (PFW3), organised by Riwayat, made its way to the UK with 38 prominent fashion and jewellery designers, where experienced as well as new ones showcased their collections.
As the curtains opened for one of the biggest fashion events in Great Connaught Rooms in London, the world saw what Pakistan had to offer. The event took place November 17 and 18.
The two-day event exhibited the collections of Rana Noman, Brand Just Prêt Gul Ahmed, Reet, Zainab Mushtaq, Zainab Chottani, Rizwan Ahmed, Mona Imran, UK Designer Lounge, Shazia Kiyani, Ayesha Ibrahim, Aamir Baig and jewellery designer Nazneen Tariq on the first day, as well as, Gul Ahmed Textiles and Shariq Textiles, who aimed to give a slice of lawn madness to the masses there.
Among the collections displayed was Gul Ahmed’s G-Pret collection which was a fusion of modern cuts with traditional designs using embroidery along with detailed, gilded and edged shimmery jersey appliqués. Subtle palettes of beige, rust and peacock shades were also used to subdue any overload of detail. The collection varied from poetic long-length dresses to more practical and less voluminous tops which were worn over wide palazzo pants.
Commenting on his collection that was showcased at the event, Nomi Ansari, who is known for using vibrant colours, said: “The main purpose to showcase our collection at PFW3 was to reach out with a new style aesthetic on a national basis.”
Designer Hasina Khanani also showcased her prêt collection titled Bring Back My Art, which included a variety of tops made out of denim in different washes and shades of blue. The tops were brought to life using colourful abstract art in threaded embroidery and Blue Iranian Stones.
