Peshawar-Torkham Highway: President launches reconstruction
US will provide up to $70 million to reconstruct the 46km road over the next two years.

President Asif Ali Zardari and US Consul General Robert Reed inaugurated the reconstruction of the Peshawar-Torkham Highway on Monday, according to a press release. The release states that the US will provide up to $70 million to reconstruct the 46km road over the next two years. The Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (Fata) Secretariat, meanwhile, will manage the project with oversight from the National Highway Authority, it adds. “The Peshawar-Torkham Highway is a gateway to increased trade and economic development in the region,” said Consul General Reed at the occasion.
