4,300 candidates sit for entrance test
For the 760 seats in the various undergraduate programmes at Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), a total of 4,300 candidates sat for the entrance exams.
The admission test was held at Karachi Expo Centre on Sunday. Besides offering an undergraduate degree in computer science, the university offers admissions in five engineering disciplines - biomedical, civil, computer, electronic and telecommunication engineering.
Around 1,721 students who are seeking admission have already indicated their preference to study civil engineering, followed by 1,284 for electronic engineering and 517 for computer engineering, said SSUET registrar Shah Mahmood Syed. Another 478 candidates said they preferred a computer science degree over an engineering degree.
Meanwhile, the students’ interest in biomedical and telecommunication engineering degrees appeared low as only 168 and 132 applicants respectively mentioned the disciplines as their first choice in the application forms. The next step in the admission process is the interviews that will be held from Monday to Friday at the university campus.
