Entrepreneurship: Women trained to launch businesses
As many as 43 women from Lahore and Rahim Yar Khan who were trained under the programme took part in the competition
LAHORE:
An entrepreneurship training programme for rural and low income women was launched by the International Labour Organisation (ILO)’s Women Economic Development (WED) programme. It also launched a business development plan competition titled ‘Khadija.’ As many as 43 women from Lahore and Rahim Yar Khan who were trained under the programme took part in the competition. Eleven of the project proposals were shortlisted on the basis of business feasibility criteria. Advisor to Chief Minister Shaista Pervaiz Malik said the programme continues the Islamic tradition of recognising women as equal contributors to economic development. Salim Ranjha, founding member of Akhuwat, announced interest-free loans for all the trainees of the Khadija programme.
