Crime on court premises: One killed by rival, several injured in brawl
Five people arrested in two incidents at sessions court.

A man was shot dead and several others were injured on Friday in separate incidents at the Gujranwala and Sargodha sessions courts.
In Sargodha, a man was shot dead and another injured by a rival on court premises. The assailant and his two accomplices were arrested. Police said they had also confiscated the weapon used in the crime.
Police said murder suspect Ghulam Muhammad, 50, a resident of Shah Nakdar, was shot when he was being taken back to prison after being produced before a judge. They identified the assailant as Kalay Khan. Muhammad died on the spot. His brother, Ikram, was also injured district headquarters hospital, where doctors treating him said that he was out of danger.
Police said Kalay Khan had identified himself as son of one Shafqat Hayat, who was allegedly killed by Muhammad two years ago. He said he had killed Muhammad in revenge for his father’s murder.
Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Muhammad Rizwan said that several cases had been traced against Kalay Khan in various police stations. He said Khan had apparently been hired to kill Ghulam Muhammad but he did not say by whom.
The body was sent for a post-mortem examination.
Court proceedings, scheduled for Friday were adjourned till Saturday (today).
Brawl among women leaves six injured
In Gujranwala, six people were injured after an argument between a few women turned ugly and they beat each other up on court premises.
Police said the injured were taken to a hospital. Three of them were discharged from the hospital a few hours later. They were later arrested by the Civil Lines police for starting the brawl. Police indentified them as Najma Bibi, Naghma Bibi and Nadeem. At least three passers-by also received minor injuries and were given first aid on the spot.
According to the Civil Lines station house officer, the women who had come to court for a murder case hearing belonged to two rival groups. They had an argument, which was interrupted by security officials.
However, he said a few minutes later, they started beating each other.
He said some of them brought bricks from a nearby under-construction site and used them in the fight. The men who tried to stop them were also injured.
