Justice Afridi’s Petition: Court rejects application for early hearing
After the decision, Justice Afridi filed a petition before the IHC.
ISLAMABAD:
An application for the early hearing of a petition filed by former Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Azim Khan Afridi was rejected here on Thursday.
IHC Judge Muhammad Anwar Khan refused to entertain an application by the former judge requesting that his petition be heard earlier and forwarded it to IHC chief justice instead.
Justice Afridi had submitted his resignation last week.
On October 22, the JCP, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, rejected Afridi’s nomination as a regular judge allegedly due to accusations against him of appointing 45 of his favourites in the lower judiciary.
After the decision, Justice Afridi filed a petition before the IHC.
